A Tale of Two Blogs

I spend a lot of time during my work day at the evil myspace. Now I've kept up having two blogs, but I've become lazy and quite often copy what I type over there and put it here or vise versa. Well, you know what? Today is no exception!

"Oh you've got the darkest eyes."

Hey alright! It's Friday already! How the hell did that happen? Man this week has gone by fast.

So, I did get a ticket to that show last night. 15 bucks! That is less than they were being sold for. I also got one fairly early and was able to enjoy a few beers at The Full Shilling before heading next door to catch almost all of The Ponys set. We had a great spot too right up front to the right side of the stage. I like that side best. Closer to the bar. I have sweet spots for almost every rock venue in this city. Sometimes on the left and sometimes on the right. We're not talking politics here now, don't you worry.

Ok, I'm getting off track. I can't believe that was the first time I had seen Sleater Kinney. Goddamn that was a fucking great rock show! Those girls can play some guitar, and with Keith Moon style drumming going on behind it. Mighty impressive. I haven't always been into them which would make sense why I hadn't seen them before. The voice used to bug me. Danny described seeing them for the first time at Lounge Ax(RIP) years ago and said the vocals were like a siren going off over the chaos, and that's exactly what it was. Great great live band! Added bonus was a cover of Fortunate Son by CCR. Written in the sixties; very relevant today:

Some folks are born made to wave the flag,
ooh, they're red, white and blue.
And when the band plays "Hail To The Chief",
oh, they point the cannon at you, Lord,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no senator's son,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate one, no,
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand,
Lord, why don't they help themselves? oh.
But when the taxman come to the door,
Lord, the house look a like a rummage sale, yes,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no millionaire's son.
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate one, no.

Yeh, some folks inherit star spangled eyes,
ooh, they send you down to war, Lord,
And when you ask them, how much should we give,
oh, they only answer, more, more, more, yoh,

It ain't me, it ain't me,I ain't no military son,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate one,

It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate one, no no no,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate son, son son son
